* Lenore "Lee" Krasner was an American Abstract Expressionist painter who specialized in collage. She made a name for herself in the male-dominated, macho world of Abstract Expressionism, fighting for her place and proving herself a worthy competitor to her male rivals. Her art explored the deconstruction and disintegration of the pictorial plane in a language that was raw, fresh, and uncompromisingly direct, and she has inspired generations of women artists ever since.
